AP® Precalculus

Flashcards

144 cards with the terms and ideas you need to know cold. The ones you find hard come back sooner.

Multiple choice practice

116 exam-style questions, timed like the real exam, with every answer explained.

Polynomial and Rational Functions

14 topics · 82 videos

• A rate of change tells you how fast, and which way, the output moves as the input changes
• A polynomial's factors give its zeros and how the graph acts near them
• The leading terms control what a graph does far to the left and right
• Factors in a rational function's denominator make vertical asymptotes or holes
• Transformations and models let you fit a function to a real situation

Exponential and Logarithmic Functions

15 topics · 85 videos

• Linear change adds a constant amount; exponential change multiplies by a constant factor
• Logarithms undo exponentials, so they are inverse functions
• Exponent and log rules let you rewrite expressions into more useful forms
• Residuals help you decide which model fits data best
• Semi-log plots turn exponential data into a straight line

Trigonometric and Polar Functions

15 topics · 87 videos

• Periodic functions repeat their output values over equal intervals
• Sine and cosine come from coordinates of points on the unit circle
• Amplitude, period, phase shift and midline describe any sinusoidal graph
• Inverse trig functions and identities let you solve trig equations
• Polar coordinates locate points by distance and angle instead of x and y

Functions Involving Parameters, Vectors, and Matrices

14 topics · 67 videos

• A parametric function gives x and y separately as functions of time
• Equations in x and y can describe curves, like conics, that aren't functions
• Vectors have both size and direction
• A 2×2 matrix can stretch, rotate or reflect points in the plane
• Matrices can track how quantities move between states over time
